Tips For Beginners: How To Find Diamonds

Diamonds are used for the highest quality pickaxes, shovels, swords, axes, and armor. Diamonds can be hard to find if you don't know where to look. Below are some tips and tricks for finding diamonds. The number of diamonds found can vary, so don't expect to find it immediately.

Materials needed:

Required: Multiple Wood and Stone Pickaxes. Iron Pickaxe or better.
Recommended: Torches, food, armor, shovels, weapons. PATIENCE.

1. First find a good spot to start your mine.

2. Once found, dig diagonally downwards so that a staircase is created.

3. It is suggested that you dig all the way down to bedrock. Here is where the multiple picks come in handy.

4. If it gets dark, put torches about every 15 blocks downwards as you dig.

5. Press F3. On the top right of your screen you should see your coordinates. Look at your 'y' coordinate.

6. Diamonds are found ONLY in y:16 or lower ( e.g. y:11).

7. Go to anywhere from y:16 to y:5. Start branching off the sides.

8. Eventually you will create a series of branches. Do not worry if you cannot find any, there are only about 3 diamonds in a chunk.
